i make fun of dc... i do. their decisions baffle me so often. but i joke because i love XD
howeveeeer.....
what is it with dc doing things that gets completely taken out of context?...yes, dc made stupid decision...aaaa lot of them... but just gotta love the remove context button being used on articles recently
2 latest ones are..
dc creators left because dc forbids lesbian marriage...
bombastic...sure...makes one of the 2 big companies look homophobic...aw yeah!
true?
weeelllll... technically they simply don't want marriage. tis not a homophobic decision... it is a marriage-o-phobic decision.
hell... one more day anyone?... it is not really news, big 2 don't like their heroes being married.
again.. is it a stupid decision? yes!
does it lack any vision and trust in the capabilities of creators writing good stories about married heroes? of course...
homophobia driven....i really don't think so
of course there were other reasons for the creative team leaving..but they weren't that important to be in the titles XD
also, here is a fun article about superhero marriages
www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat…
update..apparently she couldn't get married because bat people need f%&ked up family lives... XD aaah good stuff XD
now, the latest one is the harley quinn contest thing.
i read the script...unnecessarily cheesecake yes...
without context...effin horrible
but the angle that s taken by articles.. "draw suicidal Harley naked, get a job at dc"... aaa little forced
to any artist who understands context, the whole page basically looks like a Wiley-coyote slapstick
and if she had her old outfit , it could be a hilarious series of failures.
hell, i have seen a lot of series using failed suicide shtick for comedic effect... we all have.. it is not a new thing it has been used in cartoons, comics and movies to the point that it's a damn near trope by now
i can also tell you this. any half mature artist knows how to draw her naked in the bathtub scene without showing ...well..anything
point is, putting her naked in the bathtub? yeah... stupid... creepy in the context of the panel too
but let's not make it into something that it isn't.
it is harley quinn... dark humor is a given.
generally the whole page is actually a good test for the ability to convey humor through facial expressions and body language....
the idiocy in it all is the fact that without context of the whole comic issue itself...it was a poor choice of a page that really relies heavily on context top be used out of it
because not knowing the context of the page... outrage is justified.
dc has had a bad history in mistreating their female characters in recent rebooting... so outrage does have a strong foundation of empiric proof not all characters not all the time... but when they messed up they messed up over the top
my own opinion is..what they see is not the intention of the writer in this case
and apparently this script page is quite literally harley breaking the fourth wall to talk about the stupid situations she might get put in by the creators...
again... even that... turning harley..a violent red and black dressed wisecracking individual into a breaker of the fourth wall.... not an idea i'm too keen on. one deadpool is enough methinks XD
there are genuine problems in the industry that could use a good discussion...but thing about discussions is.. they can only be done when people stop shouting XD
