After a printing error by Shapeways on one of my orders, I ended up with an "extra" AoE kit. After a "metric butt ton" of sanding to remove the 3D print errors, I decided to have a little fun... The Silver AoE!
Instead of paint/rub n' buff, I used AL foil tape. I distressed and tinted the lines with transparent black acrylic paint and used pure white LEDs. Applying the foil tape to a dome was kinda fun and the foil tape gives a nice beat-up chrome-ish finish. The trans black gives a nice differential between lights-on and lights-off. I'd might be fun to try this with other foil tapes like copper.
